WORK EXPERIENCE :
I am currently working in Polymer Laboratory, Central Leather Research Institute, Madras and I am with CLRI since 1978. The basic understanding of structure-property relationships in polymers is being utilized in solving the problems referred to by the industries. In order to incorporate finishing techniques, which are eco-friendly, new conducting polymer formulations are being developed, as these are useful for the application of pollution free finishing techniques such as powder coating for non-conducting surfaces such as leather. Conducting polymers with novel structures/properties are being synthesized, which have potential applications in various fields including electronics. Sophisticated techniques such as electron microscopy, spectroscopy, mechanical and thermal analysis, ultra sound analysis, electrical conductivity, electronic device fabrication etc. are being used. Worked on the proton conductivity in polyelectrolytic polymers for fuel cell applications.
In addition to R & D work, I have guided several students in Physics, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Applied Chemistry and Textile Technology. I have delivered many invited lectures in India and abroad. Acted as an external examiner for M.Sc., M.Phil and Ph.D. students of different Indian universities .
FIELD OF EXPERTISE :
Has more than 25 years experience in the structure-property relations in polymeric materials.
